What's the Difference Between a Base Layer and a Thermal?

Although often used interchangeably, base layers and thermals serve distinct purposes.

Thermals are primarily designed to retain warmth in cold conditions but are not sweat-wicking, which means they trap heat and moisture. Therefore, thermals are not ideal as the layer closest to the skin. They come in various weights—light, mid, and heavy—suitable for different climates.

In contrast, a base layer excels in versatility and performance. It can trap warm air when worn under additional layers, like a thermal, but also allows air circulation if worn alone. This adaptability makes base layers superior, as they keep you dry by wicking away sweat, unlike thermals which focus solely on warmth.

What is Angora?

Angora wool is a remarkable natural superfiber, renowned as the softest wool in the world. Despite being the lightest and finest of all natural fibers, it excels in two key properties: superior thermal insulation and moisture absorption. 

This is made possible by the unique hollow chambers within the Angora hair, which provide exceptional warmth—many times greater than sheep's wool—while keeping the skin comfortably dry, even during perspiration.

Angora wool’s extraordinary fineness surpasses even that of cashmere. To enhance the stability and durability of Angora fibers, they are often blended with other materials such as cotton, sheep's wool, or acrylic. At Medima, we have utilized this blend to develop a diverse range of material compositions over the years.

Our extensive product line includes classic thermal underwear, sportswear, joint warmers, and fine lingerie, all benefiting from the unique properties of Angora wool.

Order and Payment 

How do I place an order?

Simply browse our products, select the items you wish to purchase, and click "Add to Cart." Once you're ready to check out, follow the prompts to enter your shipping and payment information.

Can I change or cancel my order after it has been placed?

We want you to have the product and experience you want. Please contact our customer service team at hello@getsilverlyne.com as soon as possible to make any modifications.

How can I track my order?

Once your order has shipped, you will receive a confirmation email with a tracking number. You can use this number to track your order on our website or the carrier’s website.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express), PayPal, and Shopify Payments.

How do I apply a discount code to my order?

During checkout, you will see a field to enter your discount code. Enter the code and click "Apply" to see the discount reflected in your total.

Shipping and tracking

What are your shipping options?

We offer standard and express shipping options in the US. Delivery times vary based on your location and the shipping method selected at checkout.

For Canada, we offer only standard shipping.

Do you offer international shipping?

Only to Canada at this time. We do not ship to any other international location at this time. If you'd like to place an international order, please contact us at hello@getsilverlyne.com.

How long does it take to process and ship my order?

Orders are typically processed within 1-2 business days. Delivery times depend on the shipping method chosen at checkout, but you should receive your items 5~8 days with standard shipping, 1~2 days with express shipping.

How much does shipping cost?

Standard shipping is FREE in the US.

For Express shipping, we charge a flat fee of $15 per delivery.

For Canada, shipping is calculated at the checkout and is reflected to the buyer.

What should I do if my package is lost or damaged?

If your package is lost or arrives damaged, please contact our customer service team at hello@getsilverlyne.com immediately with your order details so we can assist you in resolving the issue.

Returns and exchanges 

Wat is your return policy?

We offer a 30-day return policy for unused and unopened items. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, please contact our customer service team at hello@getsilverlyne.com to initiate a return or exchange.

How do I request a refund or exchange?

To request a refund or exchange, please contact our customer service team at hello@getsilverlyne.com with your order number and details of the item you wish to return or exchange. We will provide instructions on how to proceed. Refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 10 business days after we receive the returned item.

Sizing

How do I find my fit?

To find the best fit for you, refer to our size chart.

To find your size, measure your body using a tape measure and compare your measurements to our sizing chart. The chart lists measurements for the bust, waist, hips, and other key areas to help you determine the best fit.

What measurements do I need to take?

You should measure your bust, waist, and hips. For tops, additional measurements like shoulder width and sleeve length might be helpful. For pants, inseam and waist measurements are crucial.

How do I measure my bust?

Wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your bust, ensuring it is parallel to the ground. Keep the tape snug but not tight.

How do I measure my waist?

Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, usually just above the belly button. Make sure the tape measure is parallel to the ground and not too tight.

How do I measure my hips?

Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks, keeping the tape measure parallel to the ground.

What if my measurements fall between two sizes?

If your measurements fall between sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size for a more comfortable fit. You can also check our fit guide or product descriptions for specific advice on each item.

Are your sizes based on standard measurements?

Yes, our sizes follow standard international sizing conventions. However, we advise checking our specific sizing chart for each product, as sizing can vary between different styles and collections.
